I just read that flickr is to become yet another OpenID server, which is annoying unless it also becomes a consumer. Here’s a list of websites I wish I could log in using my OpenID—
- Flickr (Zooomr just isn’t good enough)
- Wikipedia
- Youtube
- eBay
- Amazon
- Paypal
- Yahoo!
- Last.fm
- Any online feedreader
- vbulletin (the software, not the website)
- Wordpress (the software, not the website)
Here’s a list of OpenID consumers I actually find useful enough to use—
And that illustrates nicely, why I can’t convince most people I know, to get an OpenID. Sure there’s a lot of “cool” sites that are OpenID consumers, but they don’t mean anything to me. OpenID needs a sort of killer app website.
